The Johnny Lewis All Star Dance Band is a tribute band formed in memory of the late, great bandleader, Johnny Lewis. This is the first Governor’s Inaugural Ball Johnny has missed in a few decades. “Johnny, we know you are looking down and smiling”.

Johnny started his music career as a child in New York City as the original “Philip Morris” dancer. He was a Capital Records recording star and played in many clubs up and down the East coast until settling in Florida for a few years. After receiving an invitation to play one night at the Tyee Hotel in Tumwater WA, Johnny never left the Pacific Northwest and the rest is history.

While Johnny was the front man for bands from several genres - jazz, blues, rock & roll, he is best known for his “Big Band” sound. The tribute band is comprised of players that worked with Johnny for many years. Members include Ken McDermid, keyboard/band leader; Karen Layman, Johnny’s powerhouse singer; John Lucas, guitar; Steven Bentley, drummer/composer; and Jeff Winslow, reeds.
